Luke Rockhold is a retired professional mixed martial arts fighter from the United States of America. He is a former Ultimate Fighting Championship Light Middleweight Champion. He was also twice named the Strikeforce Middleweight Champion. He is the last fighter to hold the title before Strikeforce was absorbed into the UFC.

Career

Rockhold turned pro in July 2007. His first opponent was Mike Martinez whom he defeated. In February 2008, he joined Strikeforce. His first opponent for the group was Josh Neal. He fought for Strikeforce through to January 2012.

In May 2013, he went up against Victor Belfort and lost. It was a title card fight for UFC on FX 8. He followed this with a win against Costas Philippou in January 2014. Then in April 2014, he won against Tim Boetsch.

In November 2014, he went up against Michael Bisping for the first time and won. They would have a rematch in June 2016 that Rockhold would lose. In February 2018, he lost to Yoel Romero. Then in July 2019, he lost to Jan Blachowicz. He took time off from professional fighting and in August 2022, he fought and lost to Paulo Costa. After that, he announced his retirement.
