Katie Boulter was born on August 1, 1996, in Woodhouse Eaves, Leicestershire, England, to David and Susan Boulter. She stands 182 cm tall and is right-handed with a two-handed backhand. She is coached by Biljana Veselinovic. Since turning professional, she has earned approximately US$3.4 million in prize money.Boulter was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome when she was a teen. She is a supporter of Leicester City Football Club and got engaged to Australian tennis player Alex de Minaur in December 2024.
Her mother played tennis at county level, and her grandmother was also a county champion. Boulter began playing tennis at age five and represented Great Britain internationally by age eight.

Boulter was ranked as high as No. 10 in the world as a junior. She won the Lemon Bowl in Rome at age 11, was a finalist at the Junior Orange Bowl at age 14, and reached the final of the Australian Open girls’ doubles in 2014.She won her first ITF singles title in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, in 2014.
Career
Turning professional in 2013, Boulter experienced a breakthrough on the WTA Tour in 2016 with her first title win. Early in her career, she also helped lead Britain back into the Fed Cup World Group II in 2019, ending a 26-year absence.Boulter’s first significant Grand Slam singles result came at the 2019 Australian Open, where she reached the second round. She would match this result again in 2024 and 2025.
Her progress was interrupted by injuries, including a notable back injury that required a period of recovery, but she returned to the circuit with strong performances, including a third-round appearance at Wimbledon in 2022, followed by another third-round showing at Wimbledon and the US Open in 2023.
The 2023 season marked a turning point in Boulter’s career. She captured her maiden WTA singles title on home soil at the Rothesay Open Nottingham, defeating fellow Brit Jodie Burrage in the final.
This victory propelled her into the world’s top 50 for the first time. She also reached the third round at both Wimbledon and the US Open, and won an ITF singles title in Canberra.
Boulter’s momentum continued into 2024, her most successful season to date. She successfully defended her Nottingham title, this time overcoming Karolina Pliskova in the final, and captured her first WTA 500 title at the San Diego Open, defeating Marta Kostyuk in a hard-fought final.
She also reached the semi-finals in Tokyo and finished runner-up at the WTA 250 event in Hong Kong. These achievements helped her reach a career-high singles ranking of World No. 23 on November 4, 2024. That year, she also made her Olympic debut in Paris, reaching the first round in singles and the quarter-finals in doubles alongside Heather Watson.
As of May 20, 2025, Boulter is ranked No. 38 in singles and No. 447 in doubles.
