Emma Raducanu’s pulling out of the Billie Jean King Cup Finals due to a persistent wrist injury has left the Great Britain team looking threadbare.

The Billie Jean King Cup begins in Glasgow on Tuesday and the GB Team is up against Kazakhstan which is led by Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina.

Rybakina is known as a big-hitter and the GB player who has the best shot against her is Boulter who is equally big-hitting and has a heroic history for the team back in 2019 when the tournament was named the Fed Cup.

Back then, she helped the team win the Cup after beating Zarina Dyas. She won over the Kazakh despite suffering from a pain in her spine that would later become a stress fracture that nearly ended her career.

When asked how she feels thinking about her win against Kazakhstan in 2019, she said:

“It already is giving me some pretty good vibes.”

“It’s in my core memory. I think I can speak for everyone by saying it was something that was iconic, and I hope that we can replicate something like that.”

In addition to Boulter, the Billie Jean King Cup team will include Harriet Dart, the current World No.98, and Heater Watson. Olivia Nicholls and Alicia Barnett had also been chosen to play.

“It’s an honor to be selected,” said Nicholls. She also spoke about playing with Barnett saying, “We both represented the British University team, and we both went to watch the Fed Cup team as spectators in Bath [when the Lawn Tennis Association hosted the Europe/Africa Zone Group 1 finals at the beginning of that same 2019 campaign].”

Nicholls said: “I don’t think either of us thought we’d be in a position to actually represent the full team at a BJK Cup finals.”
