Boulter won her quarterfinal match against Dart at the Rothesay Open in straight sets. Dart became irritated by Boulter’s reaction when they met at the net.
Boulter had pointed to her forehead, which Dart thought was done towards her. When they met at the net, Dart said: “I thought you were doing it towards me.”
Dart replied to this by saying, “It’s not personal’.
This is when Boulter said: “It’s not professional.”
As she walked away, Dart said: “I do it every single match.”
In the past four years that the ladies have been active in tennis, Dart has generally been ranked higher than Boulter but this was not a particularly good match for her.
She was complaining about the line calls all the way through the match. Later, Boulter took issue with the coverage by the press which was pointing out the recent absences of any British women from Grand Slam events.
“There was a lot of talk about if we had the next players coming up from a lot of the press,” Boulter said in her on-court interview.
“And I feel like we’ve really shown this week there’s a lot of depth in British tennis. I hope we keep looking at that and thinking of the positives,” added Boulter.
Boulter and Dart have gone up against each other 4 times with Boulter winning three of those matches.
