Daria Kasatkina is a professional tennis player representing Australia since 2025. Daria Sergeyevna Kasatkina was born in Tolyatti, Russia, to athletic parents Sergey Kasatkin and Tatyana Borisovna. She stands 170 cm tall and is right-handed with a two-handed backhand. She is coached by Flavio Cipolla and has earned more than US$13 million in prize money.

Kasatkina began playing tennis at age six, introduced to the sport by her older brother Alexandr, who now works as her fitness trainer. Her father was a professional ice hockey player and her mother was a nationally ranked athlete in athletics.

She is a fan of Rafael Nadal and FC Barcelona, and admires Petra Kvitová and Maria Sharapova. She enjoys football and has been open about her sexuality, coming out as lesbian in 2022 and publicly supporting LGBTQ+ rights.

Kasatkina is in a relationship with figure skater Natalia Zabiiako. She has spoken out against the Russian invasion of Ukraine and became an Australian citizen in 2025, now representing Australia on tour.

Juniors

Kasatkina was ranked as high as No. 3 in the world as a junior. She won her first junior Grand Slam title at the 2014 French Open and helped Russia win the Junior Fed Cup in 2013.

She also earned a silver medal in doubles at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing. Kasatkina finished her junior career with one Grand Slam singles title, three singles titles, and one doubles title.

Career

Kasatkina turned professional in 2014. She won her first WTA singles title at the 2017 Volvo Car Open in Charleston and her first WTA doubles title at the 2015 Kremlin Cup in Moscow with Elena Vesnina.

She broke into the Top 10 in 2018 after winning the 2018 VTB Kremlin Cup and reaching the final at the 2018 BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells. That same year, she reached the quarterfinals at both Roland-Garros and The Championships, Wimbledon.

After a challenging 2019 season, Kasatkina rebounded in 2021, winning titles at the Phillip Island Trophy in Melbourne and the St. Petersburg Ladies' Trophy, and returned to the Top 30.

In 2022, she reached her first Grand Slam semifinal at the French Open and won titles at the Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic in San Jose and the Championnats de Granby, finishing the year ranked No. 8. She qualified for the WTA Finals in both 2022 and 2024.

In 2024, Kasatkina won the Rothesay International Eastbourne and the Ningbo Open, and was runner-up at the Credit One Charleston Open, Adelaide International, Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open, and the Hana Bank Korea Open in Seoul.

She finished the season ranked inside the Top 10 for the second time in her career. In March 2025, Kasatkina switched nationality to Australia and became the country’s top-ranked women’s player.

She reached the fourth round of the Australian Open for the first time and continued to compete at the highest level on the WTA Tour.
