Kasatkina lost to Svitolina in straight sets on Sunday. The Ukrainian gave Kasatkina a thumbs-up after the match and she responded with a thumbs-up of her own.
Previously, Svitolina had stated that she will not be shaking hands with Russian and Belarusian opponents.
After the thumbs-up gesture, the French crowd Booed Kasatkina. On Monday, she posted on Twitter saying that she was booed for respecting Svitolina’s decision to not shake hands.
