Box-out

Box-Out is a technique used by basketball players to gain a rebounding position by using their body to block out an opponent.

In a Box-Out, players position themselves between their opponent and the basket, creating space to secure the rebound. Boxing out is a crucial skill for all positions, but especially important for centers and power forwards.

Players should communicate "Shot!" when a shot goes up, make contact with their opponent, and assume an athletic stance. They then seal off the opponent by extending their arms and pushing back with their lower body.

Steven Adams of the Oklahoma City Thunder is known as one of the best players at boxing out, averaging over 11 box-outs per game. His physical play helps his team secure valuable rebounds and extra possessions.
