Box set

A Box Set is an offensive formation where four players position themselves in a box-like shape, with one player at each corner or "elbow" area. The fifth player, usually the point guard, initiates the play from the top of the Key.

It is considered one of the most used offense sets in basketball and is usually done to get easy and quick baskets and performed for baseline out-of-bounds plays.

It can also be useful for targeting a specific defensive player the team wants to attack or the teammate they want to score.

The box set allows for various scoring options and player movements. It is versatile and difficult to scout, as the same initial alignment can lead to different plays and scoring opportunities.

It's a popular offensive strategy at all levels of basketball due to its effectiveness in generating high-percentage shots near the basket or open looks from the outside.
