Bonus

Bonus is a term used in basketball. It refers to a situation when a team is awarded to a team when its opponent accumulates 7, 8, or 9 team fouls within a game period or half.

The bonus allows the team that was fouled to earn points easily through free throw attempts, without having to make a shot from the field. It is awarded to discourage teams from intentionally fouling too much.

The specific number of fouls needed to reach the bonus varies between different leagues and levels of play. For example, in high school basketball, the bonus kicks in after the 7th team foul per half.

The number of fouls varies depending on the level of play. This bonus is in the form of free throws, which allows the team to earn points.

The giving of bonuses usually depends on the rules of different basketball leagues.
