Block out

A Block Out is a defensive move used in basketball to secure a better rebounding position. It is also known as a Box Out or Boxing Out.

When doing a Block Out, the player widens their stance, extends their arms, and uses their body to create a barrier between the opponent and the basket.

When a shot goes up, players on both teams attempt to block out their opponents. This prevents the other player from getting closer to the basket, giving the blocker a better chance to grab the rebound.

Proper Blocking Out technique involves keeping a low center of gravity, making contact with the opponent, and maintaining the position until the rebound is secured.
