Bench points

Bench Points are the points scored by the non-starters during a game or the players who began the game on the bench, not on the court.

It refers to the total number of points scored by players who did not start the game.

These players are known as Bench Players, Substitutes, or Reserves. They begin the game sitting on the bench rather than on the court with the starting lineup.

When a coach puts bench players into the game, any points they score count toward the team's bench points. This statistic helps show the depth and strength of a team's roster beyond just the starting five players.

Having a high number of bench points can be a significant advantage, as it means the team has skilled players who can contribute offensively even when the starters are resting or in foul trouble.

A strong bench can maintain or even increase a lead while giving the starters a break.
