Banana cut

Banana Cut is a basketball term, also known as the “C” Cut.

It is a type of movement where an offensive player without the ball runs in a curved path, usually from one side of the court to the other or from the outside toward the basket.

This cut gets its name because the path the player takes looks similar to the shape of a banana.

Banana cuts are often used against zone defenses. The offensive player tries to find open gaps or holes in the defense to run through and potentially receive a pass. Compared to a straight-line cut, the banana cut is slower and wider, but can still be effective for getting open or drawing defenders away from certain areas of the court.

With a Banana Cut, the movement is quick and sudden and the player who does it usually runs along a curving path across the court.

The cut is often preferred by players who see no clear and straight path toward the basket or away from it. The move makes the defensive players confused about the intention of the offense since it usually suggests two kinds of moves; attempting to get open for a pass or drawing the defensive players away.
