Moving violation

In basketball, a Moving Violation is called when a ball handler takes more than 2 steps without dribbling the ball or by illegally moving his pivot foot. Some specific rules, like those of the illegal movement of the pivot foot, differ in professional and amateur leagues.

The player who committed the violation is charged with a turnover. This violation is also called a ‘Travelling Violation’ or simply ‘Travelling’.
