Danielle Collins is a professional tennis player from the United States. She reached a career-high singles ranking of World No. 7 in July 2022 and has won four WTA singles titles, including the 2024 Miami Open, as well as one WTA doubles title. Danielle Rose Collins was born in St. Petersburg, Florida, United States, to Walter and Cathy Collins. She stands 178 cm tall and is right-handed with a two-handed backhand. She has earned more than US$9.4 million in prize money.Collins began playing tennis at age three, introduced to the sport by her father. She attended Northeast High School in St. Petersburg and trained at the Isla Del Sol Yacht & Country Club and IMG Academy.
Collins is known for her powerful groundstrokes and fearless approach on court. She has spoken publicly about managing rheumatoid arthritis and endometriosis throughout her career. Off the court, Collins is an advocate for financial literacy and has launched a jewelry business and fashion partnerships.

College Career
Collins played one season of college tennis for Florida, before transferring to the University of Virginia.At Virginia, she compiled a 101–20 singles record, was named to the All-ACC first team in all three seasons, and helped the Cavaliers win consecutive ACC Championships in 2014 and 2015. Collins became the first Virginia player to win the NCAA singles title in 2014 and became the seventh woman all-time to win two NCAA singles titles with her second championship in 2016.
She finished her college career as the nation’s top-ranked player and received the Honda Sports Award for tennis.
Career
Collins turned professional in 2016 after a standout collegiate career. However, she had made her WTA main-draw debut as a wildcard at the 2014 US Open and won her first ITF singles title in 2011.Her breakthrough on the WTA Tour came in 2018, when she reached the semifinals of the Miami Open as a qualifier and broke into the top 50. In 2019, she reached the semifinals of the Australian Open, defeating World No. 2 Angelique Kerber en route, and made her top-25 debut.
In 2021, Collins overcame health challenges, including endometriosis and rheumatoid arthritis, to win her first WTA singles titles at the Palermo Ladies Open and the Silicon Valley Classic. She finished the year ranked inside the top 30 for the first time.
In 2022, Collins reached her first Grand Slam final at the Australian Open, losing to Ashleigh Barty, and became the American No. 1 female player. She also reached the semifinals in doubles at Wimbledon.
In 2023, Collins won her first WTA doubles title at the Charleston Open with Desirae Krawczyk and made deep runs at several events. In 2024, after initially announcing her retirement, Collins returned to the top 10 with a career-best season, winning the Miami Open - her first WTA 1000 title. Later, she won the Charleston Open, and reaching the final at Strasbourg. She became the first player since Serena Williams in 2013 to win back-to-back titles in Miami and Charleston.
Collins reached the quarterfinals at the Paris Olympics and the round of 16 at Wimbledon for the first time. In October 2024, she announced she would continue playing in 2025.
In 2025, Collins reached the third round at the Australian Open, the third round at the Miami Open, and the quarterfinals at the Charleston Open.
