Marcus Thuram

Marcus Thuram is a French professional footballer who plays as a forward for Serie A club Inter Milan and the France National Team.

Player Profile and Personal Life

Marcus Lilian Thuram-Ulien was born on August 6, 1997, in Parma, Italy, during his father's tenure at the local club. The French forward stands 192 cm (6 ft 4 in) tall.

He is the son of legendary French defender Lilian Thuram and the older brother of fellow professional footballer Khéphren Thuram. Named after Jamaican activist Marcus Garvey, he is of Guadeloupean descent through his father. Despite his father's history with Juventus and Barcelona, Marcus grew up supporting AC Milan and Real Madrid.

Career

Thuram began his professional journey at Sochaux, gaining experience in Ligue 2 before making a move to Guingamp in 2017 for top-flight football. After two seasons in Ligue 1, he transferred to the German Bundesliga side Borussia Mönchengladbach, where he spent four successful years developing his game. In 2023, he joined Inter Milan on a free transfer and made an immediate impact, winning the Serie A title and the Supercoppa Italiana in his debut season.

Internationally, Thuram progressed through France's youth ranks, notably winning the UEFA European Under-19 Championship in 2016. He made his senior debut for Les Bleus in 2020 and has since been a regular squad member for major tournaments. He represented France at UEFA Euro 2020 and 2024, and was part of the team that finished as runners-up at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
