Now this could be something immensely saddening to any keen follower of the sport of football. It has just been discovered that the French legendary defender Lilian Thuram suffers from a fatal cardiac disorder, a similar ailment that killed his brother a few years ago on the basketball court.
Thuram’s much anticipated move from FC Barcelona to Paris Saint Germain on Friday afternoon was blocked after the PSG medics discovered that the 36-year old suffered from a serious heart problem that should now hang question marks on his career.
Lilian Thuram has already decided to hang up his international boots and now it appears that he would have to let go of his club kit as well. Thuram has been diagnosed with a heart problem that also killed his brother and Thuram is pretty much apprehensive about the situation.
Thuram told a press conference:
“I am unfortunately holding this press conference not to confirm my move to PSG but announce that doctors detected a cardiac malformation.
“It seems that it is the same disease that my brother had a few years ago and which cost him his life on a basketball court.”
Now of course Thuram cannot move to PSG. But that is not the main concern at all! The main concern is whether Thuram should carry on playing or not.
