Christian Panucci is an Italian international footballer who currently features for the Italian giants AS Roma. He is a veteran defender who usually plays as right back but can perform with equal success in central defence or as a left back. He has won the UEFA Champions League twice, first with AC Milan in 1994 and then with Real Madrid in 1998.
Christian Panucci started his professional career with Italian side Genoa in 1992 and after one season was off to Italian and European giants AC Milan. Panucci won the European Cup in very first season with Milan and in the summer of 1997 signed for Real Madrid, becoming the first Italian player to play for the Spanish powerhouse. He won the Champions League with Real in his very first season at the Bernabeu.
Panucci subsequently played for Inter Milan and featured on loan for Chelsea and AS Monaco before settling at AS Roma in 2001. He established himself at Roma and is now the vice-captain of the Roman club.
Christian Panucci has been an Italian international since 1994 when he made his debut for Italy against Slovenia in a Euro'96 qualifier in September. He featured for Italy in the 2002 World Cup and Euro 2004 but was left out of the 2006 Germany World Cup finals. However he has been selected to play for Italy at the Euro 2008 finals.
