Jerome Taylor is a right arm fast bowler and a right handed batsman in the West Indies cricket team. He has also played for the Jamaican team.

Taylor made his first class debut in 2002. However just after a match that he played with the Jamaican team he was called to play with the West Indian team in a series against Sri Lanka in 2003. This was his first One Day International match. Taylor bowled sensibly and gave away just 39 runs in his 10 over spell. West Indies overcame the revised target of 160 runs and won the match however lost the series. Taylor played his first International test the same year against Sri Lanka which eventually ended in a draw. Taylor, though did not pick up any wickets in the first innings maintained his economy of 3.59 runs per over giving away just 97 runs in 27 overs. In the second innings, Taylor bowled 6 overs and gave away 19 runs.

The same year also saw Taylor being named the most promising fast bowler in the Carib Beer Series where he claimed 10 wickets for the first time in a match against Trinidad and Tobago. He was also part of the West Indian team that played against India in the 2006 Indian tour of West Indies. His career best bowling figures was against Australia in the Champions Trophy where he picked up 4 wickets for 49 runs. This game witnessed a hat trick coming from Jerome Taylor the first player to do it for West Indies in the One Day International history.

Jerome Taylor joined the Leicestershire team as a replacement bowler in 2007. Digicel sponsored his stay there in the county cricket which was then the sponsor for West Indies Cricket. Currently in the West Indian side Taylor has the best bowling average for Test matches and One Day Internationals. He also has good lower order batting skills. By making a hundred against New Zealand in 2008 he has proved that.

His inclusion into the Pune Warriors team seems to be a good move. The pace and the rhythm at which he currently is bowling would be dangerous for any batsman in the IPL.
