Daigo Higa was born on August 9, 1995, in Urasoe, Okinawa, Japan. The Japanese fighter is 163 cm tall and has a wingspan of 163 cm.He competed in the Flyweight and Bantamweight divisions. He fought from an orthodox position and was renowned for his aggressive style, which led to a record-breaking streak of 15 consecutive knockout wins to start his career.
Career
Higa began his professional campaign in June 2014. He captured the WBC Flyweight title in May 2017 by stopping Juan Hernandez Navarrete in the sixth round. He successfully defended the title twice, both by knockout.His title reign ended in 2018 when he lost the belt on the scales before being stopped by Cristofer Rosales. After a hiatus, he returned as a Bantamweight.
In the later stages of his career, Higa challenged for world titles three times at Bantamweight. He lost a close unanimous decision to Yoshiki Takei for the WBO title in September 2024.
He then fought to back-to-back draws: first against WBA Champion Seiya Tsutsumi in February 2025, and finally against WBA champion Antonio Vargas in July 2025. Following the draw with Vargas, Higa announced his retirement from professional boxing.
