Antonio Vargas

Antonio Vargas is an active professional boxer from the United States. He is the current WBA Bantamweight World Champion and a 2016 U.S. Olympian.

Antonio Vargas was born on August 15, 1996, in Houston, Texas, United States. The American fighter is 166 cm tall and has a wingspan of 168 cm.

He has competed in the Bantamweight division during his professional tenure. He fights from an orthodox position and is based in Kissimmee, Florida.

Career

Vargas began his professional campaign in February 2017. He had a highly successful amateur career, representing the U.S. at the 2016 Rio Olympics and winning gold at the 2015 Pan American Games.

He suffered his only professional loss in 2019 to Jose Maria Cardenas via first-round knockout. Since then, he has been on an impressive run. In February 2024, he stopped Jonathan Rodriguez to earn a world title shot.

In December 2024, he won the WBA Interim Bantamweight Title with a TKO victory over Winston Guerrero. He was later elevated to full champion. In his first defense in July 2025, he traveled to Japan to face Daigo Higa in a grueling battle that ended in a 12-round draw, allowing him to retain his title.
