He is the son of Greg Anthony who was a former professional basketball player also in the NBA and for the Portland Trail Blazers. When Cole was born, he had his umbilical cord wrapped around his neck.
High School and College Career
He attended Archbishop Molloy High School in Briarwood, New York. Then he transferred to Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Virginia. Later, he committed to play college basketball for the University of North Carolina and was there from 2019 to 2020.
While in Molly, he was teammates with Moses Brown who would go on to play for the NBA with the Dallas Mavericks. Notable teammates in Oak Hill include Kofi Cockburn.
In his freshman year at North Carolina, he was named to the ACC All-Freshman Team. During his college career, he had to miss four to six weeks of play because he had to have surgery for a torn meniscus.
National Career
He represented the United States in the 2018 FIBA Americas Championship, which was held in Canada. The team won the gold medal.
Professional Career
He declared for the NBA in 2020 and was selected by the Orlando Magic during the first round. He was their 15th Overall Pick. They signed him in November 2020. In a May 2021 game, he scored 30+ points making him the first Magic Rookie to do so since 2014.
In October 2023, he re-signed with the Magic to a three-year contract extension deal.
