Anabel Medina Garrigues is a Spanish former professional tennis player who currently works as a tennis coach. A clay-court specialist, she won 11 singles and 28 doubles titles and reached a career-high ranking of World No. 3 in doubles.

She is a major champion, winning the French Open women's doubles title in both 2008 and 2009 with Virginia Ruano Pascual, and also won an Olympic silver medal in doubles at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Anabel Medina Garrigues turned professional in January 1998. She achieved a career-high singles ranking of World No. 16 in May 2009.

She won 11 singles titles on the WTA Tour, showcasing her consistency at events like the Palermo Ladies Open, where she won five titles, and the Internationaux de Strasbourg, which she won twice. Her other singles titles came at the Canberra Tennis International in 2006 and the Grand Prix de SAR La Princesse Lalla Meryem in 2009.

Medina Garrigues was particularly successful in doubles, winning a total of 28 career titles.

She reached a career-high doubles ranking of World No. 3 in November 2008. Her greatest doubles triumphs came with partner Virginia Ruano Pascual, with whom she won the French Open in 2008 and 2009. She also won a doubles silver medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Medina Garrigues continued to find success in mixed doubles, reaching the semifinals of the Australian Open in 2009, Wimbledon in 2015, and the US Open in 2013.

Coaching Career

Following her playing career, Medina Garrigues became a successful professional coach.

She gained prominence while working with Jeļena Ostapenko, who went on to win the French Open Grand Slam title in 2017 under her guidance. In late 2017, she was named the captain of Spain's Billie Jean King Cup team. She has also taken on the role of tournament organizer at the Valencia Open.
