Emma Navarro was born on May 18, 2001, in New York City, USA, and raised in Charleston, South Carolina. She is the daughter of Ben and Kelly Navarro and the granddaughter of former football player and coach Frank Navarro.

She attended Ashley Hall, an all-girls private school in Charleston, and played varsity tennis there. Navarro is of Italian descent and is good friends with fellow American player Danielle Collins, whom she considers a role model.

She played college tennis at the University of Virginia, where she won the 2021 NCAA Singles Championship as a freshman.

Juniors

Navarro was a standout junior, finishing 2019 ranked No. 3 in the world. She was a singles finalist at the 2019 French Open juniors, a semifinalist at Wimbledon, and champion at the Adidas Easter Bowl.

In doubles, she won the 2019 French Open juniors with Chloe Beck and was a finalist at the 2019 Australian Open juniors.

Career

Navarro turned professional in 2015 and made her WTA main-draw debut at the 2019 Charleston Open. She made her Grand Slam debut at the 2021 US Open as a wild card.

In 2023, Navarro reached her first WTA semifinal at Bad Homburg and was runner-up at the Swedish Open. She broke into the top 50 and finished the year ranked No. 38. In 2024, Navarro had a breakthrough season, winning her maiden WTA title at Hobart and her second at Merida.

She reached the quarterfinals at the Australian Open and Wimbledon, the fourth round at the French Open, and the semifinals at the US Open-becoming the first NCAA women’s singles champion to reach the US Open semifinals.

Navarro also reached semifinals at Indian Wells, San Diego, and the Canadian Open, and quarterfinals at the Miami Open and Monterrey. She finished 2024 ranked No. 8 in singles and was named the WTA Most Improved Player of the Year.

Navarro started 2025 with a quarterfinal run at the Australian Open.
