Clara Tauson is a professional tennis player from Denmark. She reached a career-high singles ranking of World No. 21 in March 2025 and has won three WTA singles titles, including the 2025 Auckland Classic. Tauson is a former junior World No. 1 and the 2019 Australian Open girls’ singles champion.

Clara Tauson was born on December 21, 2002 in Copenhagen, Denmark. She stands 182 cm tall and is right-handed with a two-handed backhand. She is coached by Kasper Elsvad, who is also her boyfriend. Since turning pro, she has earned around US$3 million in prize money.
From 2019 until 2022, Tauson attended Justine Henin’s tennis academy in Belgium. Her uncle, Michael Tauson, is a former professional tennis player. She was recognized early for her tennis talent, and by age 13 became the youngest winner of the Danish national championship, surpassing Caroline Wozniacki’s record.
Juniors
Tauson became the youngest Danish national champion at age 13 and won the 2019 Australian Open girls’ singles title. She became the first Danish girl to top the junior world ranking and won nine ITF junior singles titles.
She also helped Denmark win promotion in the Billie Jean King Cup and was a bronze medalist at the ITF Junior Masters.
Career
Tauson began playing junior tournaments at age 10 and turned professional in 2019. She won her first ITF title at age 14 and made her WTA Tour debut in April 2019. In 2021, she won her first two WTA singles titles at the Lyon Open and Luxembourg Open, entering the top 50 in the rankings.
Her 2022 and 2023 seasons were hampered by injuries, but she returned to form in 2024, reaching the fourth round at Roland-Garros and the final at two WTA 125 events.
In 2025, Tauson started the season by winning the Auckland Classic, her third WTA singles title, after defeating Naomi Osaka in the final. She made her first WTA 1000 final at the Dubai Tennis Championships, defeating World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka and Karolina Muchova before falling to Mirra Andreeva.
Tauson reached a career-best ranking of No. 21 in March. At Indian Wells, she reached the third round and topped the WTA tour in match wins for the season by March. She also improved her doubles ranking, partnering with Yulia Putintseva.
