Marie Bouzková is a Czech professional tennis player who reached a career-high WTA singles ranking of World No. 24 on December 12, 2022. She has won one WTA singles title, at the 2022 Prague Open, and five WTA doubles titles.

Player Profile and Personal Life

Marie Bouzková was born on July 21, 1998, in Prague, Czech Republic. She began playing tennis at a club owned by her parents, Milan and Květa, and has a younger brother, Benjamin.

At age ten, she moved to Florida, training first at the Bollettieri Academy before continuing with her father and later coach Requeni Bouzková. She is multilingual, speaking Czech, English, Spanish, and some German.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a minor in sports marketing and management from Indiana University East in 2022. She admires Serena Williams and Rafael Nadal.

Junior Career

Bouzková was a standout junior, winning the 2014 US Open girls’ singles title and finishing runner-up in girls’ doubles at Wimbledon the same year.

Career

Bouzková turned professional in 2013 and made her WTA main draw debut at the 2015 Mexican Open. Her breakthrough came at the 2019 Rogers Cup, where she reached the semifinals with wins over Sloane Stephens, Jeļena Ostapenko, and Simona Halep, before falling to Serena Williams in three sets.

She reached her first WTA singles final in Monterrey in 2020 and won her maiden title at the 2022 Prague Open.

In doubles, Bouzková has claimed five WTA titles, including the 2021 Birmingham Classic with Lucie Hradecká and the 2023 China Open (WTA 1000) with Sara Sorribes Tormo.

She has reached the semifinals in doubles at Wimbledon (2023) and the quarterfinals at the French Open (2023) and US Open (2021). Bouzková has also reached the quarterfinals in singles at Wimbledon in 2022 and the French Open in 2023. She was also the finalist at the 2024 Washington Open, a WTA 500 event.
