Ekaterina Alexandrova is a professional tennis player from Russia. She reached a career-high singles ranking of World No. 15 in April 2024. Ekaterina Evgenyevna Alexandrova was born on November 15, 1994 in Chelyabinsk, Russia. She stands 175 cm tall and is right-handed with a two-handed backhand. She is coached by Igor Andreev, Evgeny Alexandrov, and Petr Kralert. Since turning pro, she has earned around US$7.7 million in prize money.Since 2006, Alexandrova has lived and trained in Prague, Czech Republic, with her parents and two siblings. The family moved to Prague for better tennis training opportunities. She speaks Russian and Czech fluently, and English to a lesser extent. Her father has long served as her primary coach, and her childhood tennis idol was Steffi Graf.
Alexandrova has considered switching to Czech citizenship for travel reasons but has not pursued it. She is known for her aggressive baseline game and powerful groundstrokes.
Career
Alexandrova turned professional in 2011 and made her WTA main-draw debut at the Katowice Open in 2016, winning her first match as a qualifier.She made her Grand Slam debut at Wimbledon the same year, defeating Ana Ivanovic in the first round. In 2018, she reached her first WTA final at the Linz Open and finished the season inside the top 100.
She won her maiden WTA singles title at the Shenzhen Open in 2020 and contributed to Russia's Billie Jean King Cup (Fed Cup) title in 2020–21. In 2022, Alexandrova won titles at the Libéma Open in 's-Hertogenbosch and the Korea Open in Seoul, and reached the semifinals at the Madrid Open, Ostrava Open, and Charleston Open, breaking into the top 20.
In 2023, Alexandrova defended her title at the Libéma Open and reached the semifinals at the Berlin Open and the fourth round at Wimbledon, her best Grand Slam result.
She was a finalist at Cleveland and reached quarterfinals at Miami and Charleston. In doubles, she won her only WTA title at the Budapest Open in 2019 with Vera Zvonareva.
In 2024, Alexandrova reached the final at Linz, semifinals at Adelaide, Miami, 's-Hertogenbosch, and Monterrey, and the quarterfinals at Wuhan. She reached the third round at the US Open and the semifinals in doubles at Stuttgart.
In 2025, she won her first WTA 500 title at the Linz Open and reached the semifinals at the WTA 1000 Qatar Ladies Open, Charleston Open, and Stuttgart Open. She also made the doubles final at Stuttgart with Zhang Shuai.
