Professional Debut and Career

Marterer debuted during the Mercedes Cup, where he was given the privilege to play as a wildcard player. In 2016, he joined the Morocco Tennis Tour, where he won his first ATP Challenger Tour, and this victory helped him climb his way to the Top 100.

Perhaps his most notable performance was when he defeated Fernando Verdasco and Cedrick-Marcel Stebe at the Australian Open, before losing to Tennys Sandgren. He also managed to reach the quarterfinal in ATP Tournaments and lost to Mirza Basic.

In 2032, he entered the Top 200 as he got the chance to play in the French Open. However, he was defeated by Filip Krajinovic during the first round of the tournament. He eventually made a comeback in 2022, when he had to compete in the Australian Open and Wimbledon Championships.
