Mirza Basic is a Bosnian professional player. He was once a representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina. However, his partner, Damir Dzumhur had been reassigned to achieve the Grand Slam's main draw.

Early and Personal Life

Basic was born and raised in Herzegovina, SFR Yugoslavia, Bosnia with his doctor's parents, Ejub and Vesna. He also had a brother who is currently working as a tennis coach. At the age of 5, Basic took interest in playing tennis, however, he has to stay off the streets to play as it is the year where the war in Bosnia had freshly finished.

Aside from tennis, he took interest in law and he is currently studying as a law student. As a tennis enthusiast, he grew up idolizing tennis legend Roger Federer. His other hobbies include football and playing video games with his brother. If not for tennis, he might have ended up being a professional football, too.

Basic in Beating Stan Wawrinka

The Bosnian tennis player could have never been proud after he stunned the world by beating Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka in the Sofia semi-finals. Because of this milestone, he considered this as a big win, and he confidently concluded that the best week of his career is behind him. Because of this, he reached his career-high rank at World Number 77. He also mentioned in an interview that he enjoyed every bit of competition at Sofia, even though he lost to Guillermo Garcia Lopez in 2016.
