He breezed through Brooksby without dropping a set, easily claiming the first two and doing the same with the third in a match that only lasted two hours and 11 minutes. He struck a total of 46 winners compared to just 10 from Brooksby.
“I played really, really well, said Alcaraz on-court. High level, high intensity, I knew that it was going to be a tough match. Brooksby is a really tough opponent, but I’m really happy with my performance today and I’m going to keep going.”
“I knew that I was going to have my chances in the third set, and I knew that he was going to [lose] his level a little bit and I had to make my opportunity in the third set,” said Alcaraz.
“In the tough moments, in the breakpoints, I played really, really well. I enjoyed it. I was there all the time and I made my opportunities in the third set.”

Alcaraz is in Flushing Queens to make a bid for his first Grand Slam win. In addition to that, he is also looking to make history and become the youngest player to ever be ranked World No.1.
He now becomes the youngest male player into the second week of the US Open. He will next Marin Cilic who managed to beat Dan Evans in his third-round thriller.
Alcaraz is not alone in trying to reach the No.1 spot. The current number 1 and US Open defending champion, Daniil Medvedev is also in the running. He next faces Nick Kyrgios in the fourth round. Rafael Nadal is also looking for a return to the top rank. Should he beat Richard Gasquet in the third round, he may be up against Frances Tiafoe next.
