Former world number one Murray and American player Korda have been awarded wild cards into the 2021 Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati, held from August 14 to 22.

The tournament is part of the US Open Series and features a stellar field led by the Top 3, Novak Djokovic, Daniil Medvedev, and Rafael Nadal.

The likes of world No. 4 Stefanos Tsitsipas, Olympic gold medallist Alexander Zverev and Italy’s Matteo Berrettini are also set to compete at the event.

And they will be joined by 46-time ATP titlist Andy Murray, a two-time champion (2008-2011) in Cincinnati, and ranked No. 45 Sebastian Korba, as both received wild cards to play singles at the venue.

The Briton made his latest appearance on a tennis court at Tokyo 2020, seeking to win a fourth Olympic medal.

However, he suffered a setback due to a thigh injury, which forced him to withdraw from the singles competition.

But the 34-year-old kept his hopes alive, deciding to continue the doubles campaign at the Olympics alongside Joe Salisbury.

Together, they reached the quarter-finals, losing to the Croatian pair formed by Marin Cilic and Ivan Dodig in three sets; the duo would move on to win the silver medal for their country.

Korda is a rising star, the 21-year-old who began the season ranked No. 119 has broken into the Top 50, and he is not looking back.

Armed with his racquet and talent that runs in the family - he is son to Petr Korda, a former world No. 2 tennis player, and mother Regina, who reached No. 26 in WTA, he captured his first ATP title in May at the Emilia-Romagna Open.

In mid-August, the Florida native will be making his second appearance at the Western & Southern Open.

Early in July, the Next Gen ATP Finals contender made his debut at the Wimbledon Championships main draw, advancing to a fourth-round match - which he lost to Karen Khachanov, who recently claimed a silver medal at the Games.

Sixth seed Dominic Thiem and Stan Wawrinka have both withdraw from the tournament due to injuries.

On the WTA 1000 side, seven-time major champion Venus Williams and 2017 US Open champion Sloane Stephens have also been received wild cards to the 2021 W&S Open.

The ATP Masters 1000 tournament takes place ahead of the last Grand Slam of the season, the US Open, played from 30 August-12 September at Flushing Meadows.

The Western & Southern Open will be held at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio, with the presence of the public.
