Jubilo Iwata is a Japanese football club based in the city of Iwata. They currently feature in the J League and one of the top clubs in Japan, having won three J League titles and finished runners-up thrice.

Jubilo Iwata were established in 1970 as the company team for the Yamaha Motor Corporation. They played in the Japan Soccer League initially and won the Emperor’s Cup in 1982, the same year that they achieved promotion to the Japanese top flight.

In the 1987-1988 season, Jubilo Iwata won their first ever Japanese league title. But due to financial problems, Jubilo decided not to become one of the founding members of the J League and were promoted to the top flight in 1994.

Jubilo Iwata became a huge name between 1997 and 2003 as they won a number of titles. From the 1999 to 2001, they reached the final of the Asian Club Cup and win the title in 1999 (the competition is now known as the AFC Champions League).

In 1998 Jubilo Iwata created the record of scoring the most number of goals in a season (107) and also constructed the record of conceding fewest number of goals in a season (26 in 2001).

In recent years though Jubilo Iwata seem to have taken the backseat. Since their triumph in the 2003 Emperor’s Cup, they have somehow been out of form.

Jubilo Iwata play their home matches at the Shizuoka Stadium that can host 51,349 spectators. Previously they used to play at the Yamaha Stadium that could entertain 16,893 spectators.
