Bruno Eduardo Regufe Alves> is a professional football player who plays for Portugal National Football team. He also plays for FC Zenit Saint Petersburg. He had been associated with F.C. Porto for a long period of time. He has also played for Farense, Vitória Guimarães and AEK Athens on loan. Standing six feet three inches tall, Alves plays as a defender at centre back position. He is known for his tough tackling, aerial ability and strength.
Alves started his youth career with Varzim. He moved to Porto in 1999 and played from them till 2010. In a hundred and nineteen appearances for them, he scored fourteen goals. He was signed by Russian Premier League’s FC Zenit on 2rd August, 2010. Luciano Spalletti, the club’s coach considers him an important player of the side.
Bruno Alves made his international debut in a game against Kuwait in June 2007. The match resulted in a 1-1 draw. He was chosen as a backup for 2008 UEFA Euro and appeared in a group stage match in which Portugal lost to Switzerland by 2-0. Alves played an important role as a regular starter in FIFA 2010 World Cup qualifiers.
