John Arne Semundseth Riise is a Norwegian international football player who currently features for the Italian Serie A side AS Roma. He is a left back who is renowned for his lethal left foot. Riise won the UEFA Champions League with Liverpool in 2005.
John Arne Riise commenced his footballing career with Norwegian side Aslesund in 1998 and that very same year he moved abroad. French principality club AS Monaco signed Riise in 1998 and Riise played impressively for them for three seasons.
In the summer of 2001 Liverpool signed Riise for 4 million pounds and the Norwegian rapidly became the club’s first choice left back. He went on to feature prominently for Liverpool and became a real star at Anfield. He won the UEFA Champions League with Liverpool in 2005 and the FA Cup in 2006. He played for Liverpool until the end of the 2007-2008 season and scored 21 goals in 24 league matches.
