Mason Mount is a soccer player playing for Manchester and England. He is a midfielder.
Club Career
Portsmouth-born Mount spent most of his junior career at Chelsea, starting as a youngster in 2005 and extending through to 2017 when he graduated to the first team. He was named Chelsea’s Academy Player of the Year in 2017, before being loaned out for the 2017-18 campaign to Dutch Eredivisie club Vitesse.
Mount impressed with Vitesse, scoring 14 goals from 39 games in all competitions to be named the club’s Player of the Year and be named in the Eredivisie Team of the Year.

He spent the 2018-19 season on loan again, going to Championship club Derby County where he scored 11 goals in 44 appearances in all competitions. He scored for the Rams on his club debut, as well as a late season hat-trick as they bid to qualify for the promotion playoffs, ultimately losing to Aston Villa in the final.
Mount returned to Chelsea for good this time, playing regularly for the Blues in the 2019-20 campaign, including 37 Premier League appearances with seven goals. His quick ascension at Chelsea was confirmed in 2020-21 when he was named the club’s Player of the Year, becoming a key part of the side that won the UEFA Champions League, netting in the 2-0 semi-final win over Real Madrid. He was also named in the Champions League Team of the Year.
The midfielder won Chelsea’s Player of the Year again in 2021-22 as the Blues finished third in the Premier League, their best result since 2018-19. Mount produced a career-best return of 11 Premier League goals that term.
He endured a difficult 2022-23 with his form waning while the club endured turmoil off the field, with two changes of manager under their new owners.
In July 2023, Mount left Chelsea for Manchester United on an initial five-year contract, with the option of a further season.
International Career
Mount put his name up in lights at under-age level for England, winning the UEFA Under-19 Championship Golden Player in 2017 as England won the title. Mount’s assist set up Lukas Nmecha for the winner in the final against Portugal.
After senior call-ups in late 2018, Mount made his England debut in September 2019 against Bulgaria. He was part of England’s Euro 2020 squad and 2022 World Cup squad.
