Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has raved about his teammate Mason Mount on the club’s official website.

Mount has been playing well for Chelsea this season and played a very important role in the Blues’ win against Rennes in the Champions League on Tuesday evening.

The 21-year-old England international midfielder worked hard in the middle of the park and provided the assist for winger Callum Hudson-Odoi to put Frank Lampard’s side ahead midway through the first half.

Chelsea won the Group E match in France 2-1 to book their place in the last-16 stage of the Champions League this season.

Mount took one shot which was on target, played two key passes, had a pass accuracy of 85.7%, took 50 touches, played two key passes, attempted three dribbles, made three tackles, and put in two crosses against Rennes.

Chelsea striiker Giroud, who scored the winning goal in the match with a header in the first minute of injury time, has spoken highly of Mount.

Giroud told Chelsea’s official website about Mount: “He’s in a very good run. He’s settled well now in this midfield three, hes enjoying himself and improving every single day.

“I’m happy for him because again he was decisive with his assist for Callum. We are all happy to have this guy in the team and in the dressing room.”
