Paulo Dybala is a soccer player playing for AS Roma. He is an Argentina international forward and attacking midfielder.
He had a meteoric rise as a teenager, debuting for Argentina as a 21-year-old and is well known for his speed, skill and quick feet.
Club Career
Dybala came out of his hometown club, Instituto Atletico Central Cordoba, debuting at senior level in Argentina’s Primera B Nacional as a 17-year-old in 2011. He excelled in his debut season, scoring 17 goals in 40 appearances, leading to Italian club Palermo swooping for his signature on a four-year deal for 8.64 million euros. Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini labelled Dybala as “the new Sergio Aguero” upon his signing.

Dybala debuted in Serie A that season and played regularly, without a major goal return as Palermo suffered relegation. He stuck with the club as they won promotion immediately back from Serie B, before starring with 13 goals in the 2014-15 season in the top flight, winning the Serie A top assist provider award.
In June 2015, Italian giants Juventus signed Dybala on a five-year deal for 32 million euros plus 8 million in add-ons. He wore Andrea Pirlo’s former 21 shirt, underlining the anticipation at his arrival. He enjoyed success at Juve as they won five consecutive Serie A titles and three straight Coppa Italia crowns, while they were runners-up in the 2016-17 UEFA Champions League, losing the final 4-1 to Real Madrid.
Dybala also delivered individually, recognised with selection in the Serie A Team of the Year on four occasions - 2015-16, 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2019-20 - as well as being crowned the 2019-20 Serie A MVP. However in the 2021-22 season there was speculation Dybala could leave Turin with his contract due to expire.
In July 2022, Dybala joined AS Roma on a three-year deal on a free transfer. He scored 18 goals in his debut season with Jose Mourinho’s side, who made the Europa League final but lost on penalties to Sevilla.
International Career
Dybala played for Argentina at under-age level and always seemed destined for the senior national team, debuting in September 2015 as a 21-year-old against Paraguay in World Cup qualifying.
He was part of Argentina’s 2018 World Cup squad but he only played once. He was also part of the 2022 World Cup-winning Argentina squad, netting a penalty in the 4-2 shootout victory over France in the final.
