David de Gea is a Spain international footballer who currently features for the English and European powerhouse Manchester United. He is a goalkeeper and rated as one of the best young custodians in Europe.
Career
De Gea developed at the youth academy of Atletico and played for the B team in 2008-09. He was promoted to the first team in 2009 and soon established himself as a regular, making a massive name for himself in Europe.De Gea was an important figure for Atletico in the 2009-10 in which the Madrid club won the Europa League and then the UEFA Super Cup in which he saved a penalty from Inter Milan’s Diego Milito.
In the summer of 2011 De Gea joined Manchester United signed a five-year contract, with Atletico being paid £17 million as transfer fee. The Spaniard struggled initially at Old Trafford, making mistakes, but soon became more confident in the Premier League and is now one of the best in England. He played an important role in United’s league triumph in 2012-13, making 28 appearances and keeping 11 clean sheets.
He's made more than 300 appearances for the Red Devils along with more than 40 caps for Spain, including appearing at the 2016 European Championships and 2018 World Cup.
