Liverpool have signed England international striker Daniel Sturridge on a £12 million deal from Chelsea.
The Reds confirmed the move on Wednesday, with the 23-year-old former Manchester City, Bolton and Blues man inking a long-term contract.
Liverpool have been chasing additional firepower following the loan of Andy Carroll, as they try to offer support to Luis Suarez.
“I am humbled and happy to be here,” Sturridge told the Liverpool website.
“(Liverpool manager) Brendan Rodgers said he sees me here for a long time, and I also see myself here for a long time. I’ve not signed here to play for a couple of years and then move on.
“I’ve signed to be here for as long as possible. It’s a humongous club - for me, one of the biggest in the world - and to have the fans and world-class players we have here is amazing.”
Sturridge struggled for regular opportunities at Chelsea, scoring 13 goals in 63 appearances, while he showed his potential during a loan spell at Bolton, netting eight times in 12 games.
