Gameweek 32 is here ahead of the final run home which includes a chaotic gameweek 33 with 10 sides on doubles and three sides having byes so plan for that.

Among that lot on the doubles are Arsenal, Brighton, Burnley, Chelsea, Leicester City, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Newcastle and Southampton. The sides with byes are Aston Villa, Leeds United and Wolverhampton.

But gameweek 32 has the standard 10 games with no doubles and no byes.

Previous week lessons

Everton haven’t had a good run lately but Richarlison top scored with 17 points on a double. Burnley’s Maxwel Cornet had 13. The doubles are always point spinners.

Mohamed Salah’s form dip continued with 16 points across Liverpool’s past four gameweeks. He has only scored once in their past seven games in all competitions and has dropped since the Africa Cup of Nations.

With Son Heung-Min finding form, with 27 points in the past two gameweeks, maybe that’s a direct switch especially with Liverpool taking on Man City this gameweek.

New Options

Hardly new, but with Leicester City part of the double gameweek 33 and given form, James Maddison needs to be considered at 6.8m. The Foxes midfielder has a team-high five double-figure hauls with three doubles to come.

Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has drawn big interest this week, with the Gunners facing a Brighton side who’ve only scored once in seven games before their double in gameweek 33.

Chelsea defender Reece James and Antonio Rudiger make a lot of sense, although the former is a bit risky after injury. Rudiger has delivered returns in his past five, with one goal and four clean sheets.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is fit again and needs to be considered given his status. He has two goals, 11assists and 16 clean sheets this season, plus 32 bonus points. But against City, is it the right week?

Who to captain?

We’ve already suggested trading out Salah but the flipside to that is he has scored in four of his past five meetings with Manchester City. He is also the undoubted top scorer in Fantasy Premier League with 225 points for the season.

Tottenham go to Aston Villa, with both Son and Kane in good form, making them viable options. Kane has an assist or a goal in Spurs’ past six gameweeks.

Injuries

Alexander-Arnold got through 89 minutes in Liverpool’s midweek win at Benfica after a recent hamstring injury, so he’s good to go. He was actually an unused sub last gameweek.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s availability isn’t clear having had an illness earlier in the week but he has since returned to training in a good sign.

Jamie Vardy remains out for Leicester with an MCL injury, while Man City’s Ruben Dias is getting close to a return from a thigh injury but is still sidelined.

Newcastle’s Joe Willock is battling a knee issue too and Tottenham’s Sergio Reguilon is out with a knee injury as well.
