Leicester City have revealed full-back James Justin has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury on the eve of their clash with Liverpool on Saturday.

Leicester City play host to Liverpool in the early Premier League kick-off on Saturday, but boss Brendan Rodgers said at his pre-game press conference that they’ll be without Justin, who hasn’t missed a minute of action all season.

Justin was replaced in the 75th minute of the Foxes’ midweek FA Cup win over Brighton due to the injury.

“Sadly for JJ the scan hasn’t shown up so well,” Rodgers said. “It looks like he’s done his ACL, which is a devastating blow for us.”

Writing on social media, Justin added: “Truly gutted to sustain this type of injury. Will do everything in my power to get back on the pitch.

“Luckily I’ve got the best people and facilities around me to help me through this and to get stronger and fitter than ever before.

“I’d like to thank everyone for all of the messages as it means a lot to me and my family.”

It’s anticipated he’ll miss nine months of action, like teammate Ricardo Pereira who returned to the City line-up this month.

Rodgers added that Timothy Castagne isn’t available yet to replace Justin due to a hamstring issue, while Wesley Fofana is also out injured.

Leicester front man Jamie Vardy should return to the starting line-up in the league for the first time since groin surgery last month.

“We wanted to give him game-time during the week (in the FA Cup) to get his legs moving again,” Rodgers said. “Hes always fit and raring to go, especially in the big games.”

Liverpool have their own injury issue with Fabinho ruled out of Saturday’s game, leaving boss Jurgen Klopp with a defensive dilemma.

“With the boys, obviously we had now some sessions together where we really could work on this defensive set-up and that’s very, very important,” Klopp said regarding new signings Ben Davies and Ozan Kabak.

“But we have, as well and on top of that, other players available. Nat Phillips did really well, together with Hendo (and) together with Fab.

“We have to find a solution and all of them had the chance this week to show in training who is ready.”

Elsewhere on Saturday, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City host Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham, while Crystal Palace take on Burnley and Brighton entertain Aston Villa.
