Ricardo Alexandre Martins Soares Pereira, usually referred to simply as Ricardo, is a Portuguese international footballer who currently features for the Spanish side Real Betis. Ricardo plays as a goalkeeper and has played a number of international competitions for his nation Portugal.
Ricardo began his footballing career at Portuguese club CD Montijo and moved to Porto side Boavista after one season in 1994. He featured in a total of 154 matches for Boavista until the end of the 2002-2003 season he moved to Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon after he had won a Portuguese championship with the club.
Ricardo played for Sporting Lisbon until the summer of 2007 and was a regular for the team. He played 118 matches for Boavista and was signed by Spanish side Real Betis in the summer of 2007 for 3 million euros. He was a regular for Betis between the posts for Betis in the 2007-2008 season.

Ricardo made his international debut for Portugal in 2001 against the Republic of Ireland in a World Cup qualifier and was part of the 2002 World Cup squad of Portugal. He was the first choice custodian for his nation at Euro 2004, 2006 Germany World Cup and Euro 2008.
