Career

Pettis turned pro in January 2007. His first opponent was Tom Erspamer. He won that fight and the 8 fights that followed. Most of the time, he fought for Gladiators Fighting Series. In June 2009, he joined the WEC.

His first professional loss was to Bart Palaszewski. It was on December 2009 for WEC. He followed this with four straight wins.

In June 2011, he started fighting for the Ultimate Fighting Championship and lost to Clay Guida. He continued to play for the UFC through December 2020. Some of his biggest wins include those against Joe Lauzon in October 2011, Charles Oliveira in August 2016, Michael Chiesa in July 2018, and Stephen Thompson in March 2019.

In April 2021, he started fighting for the Professional Fighters League. He lost his first two fights. His first win for the PFL was against Myles Price. In 2022, he went up against Steven Ray twice, losing both times.
