Clay Guida
Clay Guida or Clayton Guida is a professional mixed martial artist born on December 8, 1981. He is an American who was born in Round Lake, Illinois. At present, he is signed under the Ultimate Fighting Championship and competes in the featherweight division. He has been competing professionally as a mixed martial artist since 2003 and has worked with other promotions including Shooto, World Extreme Cagefighting and Strikeforce. In fact, he was Strikeforce’s inaugural lightweight division champion. As of August 2015, he is ranked eleventh in his division by the UFC.
The 34-year old fighter is known as a talented athlete with several nicknames. He is popularly known as, “the Carpenter”, but is also known as, “Obezyanka” and “Energizer Blanket”. Guida stands 5 feet and 7 inches and comes with a 70-inch reach. Before competing under the featherweight division, he was a lightweight fighter for almost 10 years. His main styles of fighting include Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, wrestling, Gaidojutsu and Shooto. At present, he fights out of Albuquerque, New Mexico and trains with Elevation Fight Team.
Guida has made several accomplishments in the world of mixed martial arts. Aside from his championship belt under Strikeforce, he also earned a 6-time Fight of Night award and a 3-time Submission of Night under the UFC. He also won a Tequila Cazadores Spirit Award two times and earned Fight of the Year recognitions from Fight! Magazine, World MMA Awards and the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
His mixed martial arts record includes a total of 48 fights with 32 wins and 16 losses. These wins include 4 by knockout, 16 by submission and 12 by decision.
