During the West Indies tour of 1982-83, Kiran More was an understudy to Syed Kirmani. He continued this role during the Australian tour of 1985-86. Further, he became the No. 1 wicket keeper of India and was selected for the tour of England in 1986. In the 3 Test matches here, he took 16 catches and nailed his place in the team. More is the 2nd most successful Indian wicket keeper after Kirmani.
More registered records for the maximum stumpings in an innings (5) and in a Test match (6). In 1990, he was appointed as the vice captain of the India national cricket team and this was the peak of his career. He always maintained his never say die attitude. This became obvious when he bashed 2 boundaries in 4 deliveries off Tom Moody during the final over while playing against Australia in the 1992 Cricket World Cup. These knocks brought India close to an impossible triumph.
