Adrian Dimitri Mascarenhas is of Sri Lankan-Tamil heritage but is an English cricketer. He is presently with the Kings XI Punjab team to play at the IPL 5 season 2012.
On 5th September 2007, he scored 30 runs in an over off Yuvraj Singh at the Oval in an ODI and this is the record for the maximum runs scored in an over for England. He clobbered 5 continuous sixers off the last five deliveries of the England innings.
Initially, Mascarenhas was the skipper of the Under-17 and Under-19 Western Australia team and attained success in this role. Then, he joined Hampshire and in his debut match took 6 wickets for 88 runs. In 2001, while playing against Worcestershire, he scored his first Rose Bowl hundred. In 2004, he became the first cricketer to take a hat trick in Twenty20 cricket.

Mascarenhas became the singular English representative in the inaugural year of IPL when he was chosen by Rajasthan Royals. The English Cricket Board did not permit centrally contracted players to participate in this tournament.
Mascarenhas debuted in ODI cricket on 1st July 2007 at Lord’s against West Indies. He was the No. 7 batsman and he could score 2 runs in 7 balls. In the 4 overs that he bowled, 18 runs were scored.
