Ryan Sidebottom is a left arm fast medium bowler and a Left handed batsman with the English cricket team. He has also played for the Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire cricket teams.
Ryan Sidebottom has been playing first class cricket since 1997. He made his debut in International cricket in a test match against Pakistan at the Lord’s in 2001. After scoring just 4 runs and getting caught by Inzamam-ul-Haq on a ball by Wasim Akram, Sidebottom bowled 11 overs giving away 38 runs however could not claim any wickets. After Pakistan were asked to follow on, Sidebottom bowled 9 more overs and gave away 26 runs, however did not claim a wicket. England went on to win the match by an innings and 9 runs.
The same year in October, Sidebottom made his debut in One day Internationals in a match against Zimbabwe at Harare. He bowled 8 overs giving away 42 runs and claimed the wicket of S Carlisle. England won the match by 4 wickets. After failing to impress with his initial performances, Sidebottom was a part of the English team in 2007. In 2008, in a match against New Zealand, side bottom registered a hat-trick and went on to take ten wickets in the test match.
In a total of 22 test matches, Sidebottom has claimed 79 wickets at an economy of 2.78 runs per over. He also has a total of 29 wickets in the 25 One day International matches that he has played. His career best figures are 10 wickets for 139 runs in tests and 3 wickets for 19 runs in ODIs’.
