Christopher Henry Gayle more commonly known as Chris Gayle is West Indian cricketer who plays for the West Indies national cricket team. He is a left handed opening batsman who is hard hitting and an occasional right arm off spin bowler. Presently, he has been bought by the Royal Challengers Bangalore team to play at the IPL 5 season 2012.
He made his first class debut at the age of 19 years for Jamaica. His ODI debut came in 2001 followed by his test debut six months later. Generally Gayle is the opening batsman when he plays for the West Indies. He is a destructive batsman who when plays square of the wicket is most effective. In July 2001, Gayle 175 runs against Zimbabwe in 214 run totals.
Gayle had a slow start to his international career however he played excellently in 2002 and during this calendar year scored three centuries against India in November and became the fourth West Indian to score 1000 runs in one year.

In the 2005 test series against South Africa Gayle scored his career best of 317 runs in the fourth test match. In April 2008, Gayle was auctioned by the franchise Kolkata Knight Riders of the Indian Premier League, but missed the opening games due to an ongoing Sri Lanka tour to the Caribbean.
Career Highlights
Gayle was named Player of the 2006 Champions Trophy. In all the three formats of international cricket Gayle is the only cricketer to have hit centuries in all of them.
