Australia was struck by another injury-hit when key front line fast bowlers Brett Lee and Mitchell Johnson have been ruled out to play for the second one-day international match against India on 27th October, 2009. Brett Lee and Mitchell Johnson have responded well to their right elbow and left ankle respectively. But the medical staff has advised to rest the players in hopes of their speedy recovery. Moises Henriques will be flown from Australia in lieu of the injured players. “With James Hopes’ right hamstring injury being more serious and it is likely to keep him out for at least the next two matches it is thought adding a standby player to the squad is a necessity,” National Selection Panel Chairman Andrew Hilditch said in his statement to the media. “While the injury situation is disappointing it does provide an opportunity for Moises to join the Australian squad and become familiar in this environment” Hilditch added. mitchell johnson

Henriques has a bowling average of 38.88 for first class cricket, and 38.61 for A List cricket. Henriques will join with the rest of the team at Delhi on 28th October 2009, Wednesday. The injuries have added more troubles for the Australian team which is already struggling with the absence of Michael Clarke, Brad Haddin, Nathan Bracken, and Callum Ferguson. Currently Australia is leading the series with a 1-0 tally.
