Flash Knockdown in boxing occurs when a fighter is downed in a fight but is able to get up quickly before the referee starts to count.
The fighter may show little or no ill effects from the knockdown. Flash knockdowns usually happen when a fighter is caught off balance or when he is off guard. It can even happen when the punch is not that strong.
Flash knockdowns count the same as knockdowns. Fighters are given a standing eight count in order for the referee to assess his situation before proceeding with the fight. Despite the quick recovery, flash knockdowns can still affect a fighter's confidence and strategy for the rest of the bout.
