Melvin "Gringo" Oliva Jerusalem was born on February 22, 1994, in Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon, Philippines. The Filipino fighter is 157 cm tall and has a wingspan of 157 cm.

He has competed in the mini Flyweight division throughout his professional tenure. He fights from an orthodox position and trains out of the ZIP Sanman Gym.

Career

Jerusalem began his professional campaign in July 2014 with a unanimous decision victory. He challenged for a world title early in his career, losing a competitive decision to Wanheng Menayothin in 2017. He rebuilt his career over several years to earn a second opportunity.

In January 2023, Jerusalem traveled to Osaka, Japan, and scored a second-round TKO victory over Masataka Taniguchi to win the WBO Mini-Flyweight World Title. He lost the title in his first defense against Oscar Collazo in May 2023 via retirement.

Undeterred, Jerusalem returned to Japan in March 2024 and defeated Yudai Shigeoka via split decision to capture the WBC Mini-Flyweight World Title. He successfully defended the belt against Luis Castillo in September 2024 and defeated Shigeoka again in a rematch in March 2025.

In October 2025, Jerusalem made his third successful defense by outpointing Siyakholwa Kuse via unanimous decision in Manila.
